World AIDS Day is celebrated on December 1 each year around the world. It has become one of the most recognized international health days and is a key opportunity to raise awareness, to commemorate those who have passed on, and to celebrate victories such as increased access to treatment and prevention services.
This year the Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA) will commemorate World AIDS Day by staying open for 24 hours (from 12:00am to 11:59pm on December 1). During that time period, visitors to the museum will have the opportunity to take in two AIDS-related exhibitions, Graphic Intervention: 25 Years of World AIDS Posters and The AIDS Memorial Quilt, as well as an array of educational opportunities, entertaining
performances, and commemorations of those who have passed.
MODA’s World AIDS Day commemoration will be widely publicized by means of traditional and online media and we expect that the event will be covered by numerous local press outlets. As well, we foresee that the museum will be visited by at least 1500 people during those 24 hours.
Below you will find the MODA World AIDS Day Itinerary of events that you will need to create your poster, your brochure and other advertising items for your campaign.
You have already began work on your MODA logos for this event. You may choose to continue using them or create new logo designs depending on your direction for this one day event.
Even though Sarah Adams logo design was chosen by MODA (Congrats Sarah) each of you must still create a campaign that includes the following with your own logo:
1. Logo Design (mounted)
2. Poster that will advertise the World AIDS Day event at MODA. (mounted)
3. How they might create a buzz for the event on social network sites as well as virally (could be short animations/films/etc.) (This may be mounted or in video form to show MODA.) If you create images on FB or Twitter or any other site you should do screen grabs to show and must be mounted.
4. How their campaign might look on the MODA website. (mounted)
5.Secondary promotional items such as postcards, buttons, booklets, etc for the event.
6.A brochure (could be a trifold/gate fold or front/back for xeroxing to give to visitors to the MODA event....this should show scheduled events that will happen during the 24 hour event at MODA...using the information below. (printed and one mounted.)
7. A final printed creative brief to give to MODA along with your boards on the date scheduled to present to them. (forthcoming)
Everything else is optional on what you decide to show and design for MODA.
Please have the 7 items above and ready to show at your presentation.
We can discuss all this in the days ahead.
