After much consideration, and with you in mind, I have decided that you will not be taking on the Follett Marketing Genius Campaign as planned. I apologize to any team that has already been working towards that project already.
It was a difficult decision to make since our class had previously registered with Follett on line and they (and Barron) were excited about us being a part of this years competition.
My intentions were honest but I feel we are running out of the required time to make this Follett project as successful as the HLN and MODA projects.
Instead I've decided your final project in Advertising will be based on The Trevor Project (It Gets Better campaign) OR Stop Bullying Campaign.

I'm asking that you individually create a video campaign that you will eventually post to YouTube, Blog, Facebook and/or Vimeo for one of these two socially important organizations.
Both organizations are somewhat related in theme but I wanted to give you some leverage about how you wish to address your own creative voice regarding the two different topics.
The video you produce should be approximately 2-3 minutes in length and should be scripted, shot and edited by yourself. You can hire actors, hire musicians, use typography, animations, stop motion, or create all of it from your own point of view within the camera itself.
Our final critique will be one that reveals your video and accompanying poster that markets your video. Each of you will introduce your video and it should be accompanied with a film/video poster that might publicize your intention or story line. You should us whichever organizations logo on your poster as well.
The timely topics of bullying and teen suicide have affected each of us in some capacity. Either firsthand experience or as observer. As a storyteller you must convey your thoughts regarding the subject matter you so choose.
We'll discuss this in class with more depth.
How does teen suicide and bullying relate to you in your own life.
What are the stories you have to tell and what would be your affirmation regarding this seemingly controversial and escalating suicide for all teens, not just LGBT teens, and the youth of our nation.
Your videos can be interviews or purely fictional. It could be animation or shot entirely through the lens of a camera. It can have music, natural sound or complete silence. It's all up to you. Words are powerful and if your imagery connects to your words then it can be even more so powerful given your point of view. Remember that each of you have the ability to change someone's life with your point of view.
Do not hold back.
NOTE: If any team wishes to continue the Follett Project I will allow you to proceed instead of this video project.
All work for the Follett project is due by December 5th. Just let me know.
