MODA World AIDS Day Posters

We will be using your 12x18 Posters for the MODA World AIDS Day event and NOT the larger version. The costs has become too complicated and unless I can find a less expensive way of producing them we will go with the size your are presenting to MODA on Thursday.

These will actually be fine as scale goes. Always nice to go larger but I don't want you to incur more cost. I'm still checking however to see if we can do it for free someplace.
Stay tuned.

MODA and HLN Presenatations: Once more with feeling!

Hope everyone is ready for your presentations tomorrow, Thursday November 10th at 11:30 at MODA.
Please be do not be late. I'll be there around 11:00am. We start at promptly 11:30am. John Hallman goes first.
Again, introduce yourself and then get into your campaign with boards and/or video.
Plan what you are going to say and move through it quickly.
5-7 minutes.

HLN Update:
WE ARE ALL TRAVELING TO HLN (CNN CENTER) on TUESDAY next week (not thursday) November 15th for several teams to give their presentations to the staff and artist at HLN. We must be there by 11:30. No later.

*Security will NOT let you in without your IDS so please bring them. I'm already forwarding your names to them.
Security will also check any backpacks, bags upon entering so you might want to leave those on campus.

We'll leave GSU downstairs in the Art Lobby at 11am and walk up there. It's not far.
We are leaving at 11am from school. We need to be at CNN Center at 11:30. Don't be late or you wont' get in.
I don't want to get a text message or call saying anyone is running late.

Watercooler, Tweet, and Spectrum have been chosen so far. I'm waiting on the last team and will let you know as soon as
I am notified. Those teams will need to prepare their files for delivery up there. I would encourage you to have multiple ways to show your work (thumb drive/CD/external drive, etc.) Again, have several CDs ready to give to whomever asks.
It'll be fun.

Preparation Specs for MODA Poster Printing in CMC

In order for all your posters to be printed correctly for the MODA World AIDS Day participation please set up your files as follows (from Phillip Webb.)
The plan is to still prepare your files as 12x18 and we will scale accordingly.

• 300 ppi sounds good at full size.
• files need to be .tif so there is no dependence on fonts.
• .tif files should be RGB document color mode, based on Adobe RGB 1998 workspace setting in Photoshop.
• files should be flat with only 1 layer.

I'll need all your files next Tuesday, November 15th as requested above.
I'll also need some help mounting them once they are printed.

Advertising is Awesome: The Creative Gap-Becoming Better Than Most

http://nickvegas.tv/speaking

CHANGE: Final Class Project for the semester

After much consideration, and with you in mind, I have decided that you will not be taking on the Follett Marketing Genius Campaign as planned. I apologize to any team that has already been working towards that project already.
It was a difficult decision to make since our class had previously registered with Follett on line and they (and Barron) were excited about us being a part of this years competition.

My intentions were honest but I feel we are running out of the required time to make this Follett project as successful as the HLN and MODA projects.

Instead I've decided your final project in Advertising will be based on The Trevor Project (It Gets Better campaign) OR Stop Bullying Campaign.
www.thetrevorproject.org
www.stopbullying.gov

see: http://falladvertising.blogspot.com/2011/11/trevor-project-and-stop-bullying.html

I'm asking that you individually create a video campaign that you will eventually post to YouTube, Blog, Facebook and/or Vimeo for one of these two socially important organizations.

Both organizations are somewhat related in theme but I wanted to give you some leverage about how you wish to address your own creative voice regarding the two different topics.

The video you produce should be approximately 2-3 minutes in length and should be scripted, shot and edited by yourself. You can hire actors, hire musicians, use typography, animations, stop motion, or create all of it from your own point of view within the camera itself.

Our final critique will be one that reveals your video and accompanying poster that markets your video. Each of you will introduce your video and it should be accompanied with a film/video poster that might publicize your intention or story line. You should us whichever organizations logo on your poster as well.

The timely topics of bullying and teen suicide have affected each of us in some capacity. Either firsthand experience or as observer. As a storyteller you must convey your thoughts regarding the subject matter you so choose.

We'll discuss this in class with more depth.

How does teen suicide and bullying relate to you in your own life.
What are the stories you have to tell and what would be your affirmation regarding this seemingly controversial and escalating suicide for all teens, not just LGBT teens, and the youth of our nation.

Your videos can be interviews or purely fictional. It could be animation or shot entirely through the lens of a camera. It can have music, natural sound or complete silence. It's all up to you. Words are powerful and if your imagery connects to your words then it can be even more so powerful given your point of view. Remember that each of you have the ability to change someone's life with your point of view.
Do not hold back.

NOTE: If any team wishes to continue the Follett Project I will allow you to proceed instead of this video project.
All work for the Follett project is due by December 5th. Just let me know.

Come on and enter the MODA Desigin Competition: 3 Days Left

You already know how MODA loves something creative centered around their existing logo..either implied or literally....

Look at what they've done already with some images and perhaps yours even uses their existing logo in some abstract or literal way. These little boxes look like packages to me...so what if you create a set of these same boxes to look like presents being unwrapped....with $25 inside.....or as it gets close to the gift-giving season these become wrapped and unwrapped gifts (albeit your $25 donation.) GET IT?

What if one of the boxes isn't a box at all but a $ (Dollar Sign) instead?
What if your logo is a bunch of red boxes that make up $25 (how about 25 boxes with the dollar sign on each box=the $25 dollars they are asking for...

What they are trying to do is get the attention of the public, their audience, to give a $25 donation. I would suggest you even google images for donations or gift giving or anything that has to do with the holidays and simply figure out a way to get the RED boxes of MODA or some implied suggestion for MODA to replace what you might be inspired by...make sense?

Come on and submit something creative, clever and win some cash and help the museum.
You snooze, you lose.
